We had to make 23 different illustrations, each one with a different technique, style and materials--but with the same animal. In my case, it was the scorpion.
We had 6 weeks to complete them: the first 2 were for sketching and the rest to make, finish, and polish the illustrations.
The objective of this exercise, was to experiment with as many materials, techniques and styles as possible, as well as exploring composition and different ways of expressing a similar theme.
The illustrations' requirements were as follow:
-1 Realistic
-1 monochromatic
-1 bichromatic (two colours)
-1 cut paper (collage)
-1 graphite and one colour
-1 the animal as a baby
-1 the animal for babies (or children)
-1 modified photo
-1 black & white
-1 as a seal
-1 in a circle
-1 fragmented
-1 as in a culture (japanese)
-1 typographic
-1 using plasticine *not shown*
-3 free style (amano, arkham, schematic)
-5 Artistic 'Vanguards' (Impressionism, Fauvism, Surrealism, Cubism, Futurism)
All in all, fun experience.
Do enjoy--Peace.
